When it comes to fingerboarding, your deck is everything. Well, maybe not everything... but the shape, size, and mold all play a part in how your setup feels and performs. At 33 Fingerboards, we provide tons of options, so you can dial in exactly what fits your style. Here’s how to pick the one that feels like an extension of your fingers.

1. Know Your Style

Start with how you ride.

Technical Riders: If you’re into precise flip tricks and quick responses, go for narrower decks with higher kicks. You’ll get more control and a crisp pop.

Flow Riders: For smooth lines and easy control, a wider deck with medium kicks gives you more surface to work with and a balanced feel.

Old School or Street-Inspired Riders: If you’re drawn to creative lines and a bit of nostalgia, an Old School shape with its tapered nose and rounded tail brings a unique look and feel to your setup.

2. Choose a Shape That Matches You

Our Shape Guide lays out five main shapes, each with a different ride style:

  • Pops: Classic popsicle shape that's a great all-around deck.

  • Boxy: Squared nose edges for extra control and a slightly wider stance.

  • Scoops: Tapered kicks for a responsive feel and solid flicks.

  • Cero: A clean curved profile with a modern feel and snappy pop.

  • Old School: Nostalgic and stylish, perfect for creative riders and flow setups.

Each shape is available in multiple lengths (94–100mm) and widths (28–36mm), so you can build a setup that feels custom from the start. You can also choose symmetrical kicks for even balance or asymmetrical if you like a longer nose for extra flick leverage.

3. Pick Your Mold and Concave

Mold affects how your deck responds under your fingers.

Our Mold Guide breaks it down like this:

  • Asymmetrical Molds: Feature a slightly steeper nose than tail for a true skate feel. Available in Med/High or Low/Med kick options.

  • Symmetrical Molds: Balanced nose and tail for riders who switch constantly. Offered in High, Medium, and Low Kick options.

  • Concave Levels: Choose between Med-High (2.5mm) for sharper control or Low-Med (1.25mm) for a smoother, flatter ride.

Each combination changes how your deck pops, flips, and feels under pressure. Higher kicks and deeper concave add snap and precision, while lower profiles make for easier flow and style-based riding.

4. Match Your Setup

Your trucks and wheels should fit your deck size.

  • 29-32 decks are nimble and allow faster flips and spins.

  • 32-34mm decks pair well with most standard setups.

  • 36mm decks add more stability and space for finger placement.

If you like fine-tuning your setup, experimenting with different widths and molds can open up new ways to ride.

5. Experiment Until It Feels Right

There’s no single perfect setup. The fun is in finding what fits your style best. Try a different shape, switch your concave, or adjust your kick height. Every deck rides a little differently, and that’s what keeps it interesting.

At 33, we design our decks to be skated hard, tested, and tweaked. You bring the creativity, we’ll bring the craftsmanship.
